THE CHALLENGE
We live in Rome in Italy where traffic jams, pollution and spending, on average, two working weeks per year in your car – stuck in the traffic jam- is normal! That’s unbearable and we had to fix that! Scuter aims to attack the issue of traffic jams in urban commuting, parking problems, and inefficient ways to move.
THE SOLUTION
Scuter has developed a vertically integrated service to overcome and satisfy widespread fast and clean urban commuting demand. We designed a 3-wheels electric scooter that can be driven without wearing a helmet. This blinks at car drivers, that are not used to motorcycle driving experience and are looking for an alternative to their cars. Our service will be a free floating pay per use vehicle sharing, with a dynamic pricing based on an AI algorithm that will allow customers to earn money if they help us with logistics and battery swap, thus reducing the opex for us. We are enabling a crypto token service to leverage on the cleantech economy.
WHY FIWARE
When talking about technology, wisdom says “never reinvent the wheel”. That’s the principle we applied to Scuter as well. Apart from the vehicle, the “software” part of our initiative can be modeled as a distributed smart city platform based on Internet of Things concept. So the problems and technical decisions are basically the same as most of similar applications. FIWARE was our wheel, allowing us to focus on “customer journey” rather than software components and integration.
To find a technological partner for the hw/sw platform has been difficult as very few suppliers were offering a mature solution. Thanks to the team’s resilience, the homologation of the vehicle is in process, the vehicle is practically ready to go on the road, and investors are definitely interested.
